The St. Louis Cardinals are 2006 World Series champions -- but not according to the tattoo on the back of fan Jason Harris, a lawsuit alleges.

The suit, filed Friday in St. Louis County Circuit Court in Clayton, says Harris went to a tattoo parlor in the University City Loop on the day after the Cardinals defeated the Detroit Tigers in five games. It says he requested a tattoo saying, "St. Louis Cardinals, World Series Champions, 2006."

Harris sued The House of Ink, at 6606 Delmar Boulevard. He alleges that one of its tattoo artists misspelled words and used the wrong year for the Cardinals’ championship.

He seeks at least $25,000 in damages.

The suit names Thomas Baxter of St. Charles, owner of tattoo parlor, at 6606 Delmar Boulevard in University City. Baxter could not be reached.

Harris' attorney, Ted Luby, said fixing the tattoo would be painful and expensive.

Luby said the tattoo spells "World" as "Worlb" and uses the year 2000 instead of 2006.

"It’s not done correctly" Luby said. "The ‘d’ is a lower-case ‘b.' I think the only way to fix it is to have it removed."
